At a press conference in Sydney, Australia yesterday it was announced that IBF#11Danny Green will challenge WBC super middleweight champion Marcus Beyer in Germany on August 16. This is the second world title opportunity for Green in the past two months. He was offered the title shot at Beyer's stablemate IBF/WBA super middleweight champion Sven Ottke on June 14 but was already obligated to a bout with Jason De Lisle on June 6. Green has watched the Marcus Beyer on video tape and feels he has the skills to win the championship. "Beyer is a very experienced fighter. He's a two-time Olympian and has had 28 fights for 27 victories as a pro," Green said."He's a technical fighter and very defensive and he moves well. But I don't think Beyer likes going back, having the amount of pressure I am going to put on him." "He said he welcomed the hostile crowd of 8000 that is expected at the fight and would be disappointed if they didn't boo and hiss when he entered the ring to take out their hero. WBA heavyweight champion Roy Jones Jr predicted in 2002 that Danny Green had the skills to defeat Sven Ottke, the IBF/WBA super middleweight champion.(if Roy could train him for two weeks.)
