"Mundine focused on Echols!
By Ray Wheatley -- World of Boxing
WBA#2 Anthony Mundine has had perfect preparation for a super middleweight boxing world title bout against WBA #1 Antwun Echols on August 6. Mundine has been in camp for three weeks and is 100% focused for Echols. "It's very hard, you miss your family and you miss the things that you do in everyday life," Mundine said. "Most of my boys are calling me caveman now, because they never see me and because I'm so focused on what I have to do. I train in the morning, in the afternoon and in the evening and I go through videos and go through mentally what I have to do to win the fight. I'm in great condition. I feel in great shape, but I know the next three weeks are going to be very crucial in my preparation." Mundine is sparring around 20 to 24 rounds a week with kickboxer Gurkan Ozkan and middleweight Ercument Aslanand. In his only defeat Anthony Mundine was stopped in ten rounds when challenging Sven Ottke for the IBF super middleweight title in Dortmund, Germany in December 2001.
