I have to agree. Muay Thai crap is throughout the magazine... Not enough biographies and no way near enough pictures.

And if you look at the back of the mag, all the rankings are outdated! Surely dont publish rubbish.

I believe NSW and VIC would obviously have the better market and muay thai ISNT what we want to see.

Trip to thailand!! haha I wanna trip to the newsagents and pickup a decent mag!

What drugs are you guys on... i would much rather hear about good shows up in QLD or where ever, then hear about NSW and Vic boys fighting each other for "world" titles...seriously, guys like mehmet,Ozkan, Chrisoupoulides are not in the same league as fighters in other parts of the country(although we Victorian boys od have some good fighters e.g. Collard). I like the magazine as it is now, and would much rather read about world class fights like Judgement day, Boonchu cup...then fights for the ABC world title in Keilor or Springvale or Sydney. I know many people who read the magazine and they love the changes....PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't go back to the former style of Mag!!

I have to come halfway on this. As a longtime reader of the magazine I have found in lacking in recent times. No longer do we get juicy interviews, whacky celebrity stories or controversial articles. We no longer get any thoughful or truly unique articles like in the old days of pound for pound, best fighters, best fights, etc. Now it is all MuayThai and it seems to be only WMC who gets profiled and nobody else. The fight reports are boring what can be said in one page is spread over four, thank god for good photos from Paul Cav and the like. The profiles on fighters are boring now, there is no guts to t6hem like there used to be. I have to admit the best articles I have seen of late have been Mark Hunt story, K-1 story and creating the ultimate fighter which were all written by the former editor so far as I can see. they are stories in the old mould like other great ones such as Ian Jacobs Story Behind the Glory, Scott Bannan People's Champion and many more. Im a South Aussie so I have no bias toward Qld or Vic but it seems that there are fighetrs getting stories who dont deserve them and perhaps only because they pay to get in the magazine. The usual where were they born, where did they grow up, what food they eat is downright boring. I think the magazine has taken a definite 'boring' slump in the past year or so and this needs to be addressed. Come on Int Kickboxer as a die hard fan of your magaizne offering constructive feedback, please lift your game and get some imagination back into the magazine. Would interviews with K-1stars be that hard?? Would a training feature with Mark Hunt be that hard? No more Greco?? No more Stan?? What happened to stories on these people? No more legends stories?? No more 'what if" stories like in the old days?? You need to look at these quickly because also with the advent of the internet your magazine has more competition instead of more exposure, think of that. I can get all my news and my controversy and my pics on the net now and I dont need the magazine any more especially if its costing me as it does and has nothing worthwhile in it from no worthwhile writers except for Castagninis Under the Hammer, Schivello's always superb stories (of which there are too few) and the odd glimmer of hope from Damien Meyer though he is left of center sometimes.

Shutup you moron, you know nothing about the sport and you are obviously one of the typical illiterate fags that clutter up shows with your annoying and all too visible presence, talking ****. How about you keep your mouth shut and get an education, you imbecile. I have seen you post on other sites and people have put up with your halfwit opinions and bull**** posts for far too long................................ enough full stops for you!

Spycrack,

Your statement "enough fullstops for you!" is a sentence fragment, which is a terrible grammatical error. Also it should begin with a capital E and it is a question so it should end with a question mark, not an exclamation mark. If you look at the top of the page you may notice that this is a kickboxing forum, not a grammar rodeo or a spelling bee. Everyone on the forum is entitled to an opinion and there is no need to make silly comments about spelling just to be petty and spiteful. There is also no need to make a personal attack on anyone in here. I'm also sure the editors of the magazine would appreciate constructive criticism from the members of this forum.

Well I hope that my spelling and grammar in this post has met with your approval.

Janer,

Look at what you've done now.
I wish you'd stop upsetting people with your spelling.

Spelling trouble maker.

Janer,

One other thing,
I wish you'd stop 'Joking'.
You know how it upsets people that are good at spelling.

Crazy punk-ass kids.
Spelling, Joking, what the hell is going to be next.

I don't read the magazine anymore, but I'll comment on the Muay Thai thing. I'm Victorian, but would relocate to Queensland in a flash if possible to be able to watch the awesome Muay Thai shows put on up there.
It feels like we're stuck in the 80s down here, I wouldn't be suprised if they have another Greeks vs Turks down here later in the year with above waist kicks only.

before i start bollox to grammar all together! Im an mt fan but find all the amature stuff a little boring it should be a mag about proffessional fighters. I think it is a rediculous idea to turn it into either just an mt mag or a kickboxing mag someone said if it was just a kickboxing mag it would sell more in sydney. You dont have much of a consept about running a buisness. sure may sell a couple more to your mates who are all kickboxing fans but i dont think that those sales will cover the losses of the WA,QLD,SA markets who are all MT nuts. Kickboxing is out numbered in australia. but if thats what you like, thats what you like.

spycrack go out and get laid!
rest of you fellas you can do this on your next trip to thailand it will cost about $5 aus, send a report into IK to make some juicy reading

To : Farmboy, paul c, bambam and to eveyone else

For all the times we disagree and agree on certain issues, I suppose none of us take ANYTHING to heart. A forum IS only a place where you can discuss your opinions without beating each other up. I suppose there are some thing you can say and cant. We all know the manner to chat in and there are still a minority that keep wrecking it for everyone. Just ignore there silly and profound posts regardless if we cant spell. I had my exams last week and the last thing i want to hear is that my spelluing is incorrect by one brain dead security gaurd who takes his anger out at this and supposdely other forums.

thanks guys for realising and the help for the fight against FORUM TERRORISM!

Hi Guys,
not much of a forum user, just surfed in to checkout the site and started reading the posts.
As a regular contributor to the mag with reports and photo's, I have read with interest your comments on the content and impact of the stories.
Now, I'm not duty bound by the mag nor am I employed by them, but you have to understand they are trying to cater for the wider market.
With all the shows around Sydney at the moment, you could have a dedicated mag just for kickboxing in the Sydney area but that might not appeal to someone in WA.
Also, sometimes it's hard trying to write about a fight that was dull and boring and make it sound interesting. Other times, it's quite easy to write about a great fight. You also have to be mindful not to make someone look like a fool even though they may have been totally out-classed in a mis-match and been beaten to a pulp.
I have taken on board your comments and will try to make some adjustments to my writing style and hopefully give you guys the shots you like to see.
Paul, will catch up with you at Lucy's KB4
(you'll have to fill me in on insertind a picture in this forum!)
cheers

G'day Ian,

To post a pic:

Unfortunately the picture has to exist on the internet.
We can't just upload them like the ax site.

But, all you have to do is upload it to your website, then, once you've hit the reply button...the page opens up with your reply box.

You'll see at the top of the box a whole bunch of tiny icons. Just select the one right next to the email Icon, it kinda looks like its a miniture photo of a mountain with a moon above.

Once you click that icon, it automatically inserts some code for you. All you do now, is insert the URL of the photo you want to put up in between the beginning and and tags. Ignore the asterix in my example. If I didn't insert something that didn't belong, it would become invisible.

[i*mg]your url[/i*mg]

To find out the URL of the picture you want up, just right click it and select properties. It should give you the image's URL (at least it does with this machine and win XP)

See you at the show Ian, it should be a good one.

im sorry but i dont agree.i think we should always look forward and muay thai is the way forward.if we never moved forward we would still be watching guys in long pants fighting in melbourne town hall.yes im that old and ive seen the progression and this is only positive for the sport.im also sick of guys form from melbourne fighting one another for world titles.atleast with the muay thai they are fighting top guys not just from thailand but all over the world.in regards to the amateur side i would love to see muay thai in the olympics with tae kwon do and judo.
so hopefully ther mag stays exactly the way it is and we get to see a few more of these queenlanders down here fighting these so called world champs.keep up the good work hammer

I don't really have any experience as to what the mag was like in it's infancy. But I pretty much enjoy every issue. Sometimes the writters and photographers are faced with a pretty tough job, as Ian mentioned, making something dull seem exciting must be pretty hard to do. Espescially for the writters. Taking good pictures can be pretty tough if the fighters are all over the place evading each other and then sneaking in every now and then to point score.
The best and easiest fights for me to shoot would ideally be of two fighters that have an incredible work-rate, and stay busy and not KOd while throwing many hand leg combos (eg, as we saw recently with Jenk and Cope, so many exchanges that it's hard not to get great images.

As it is, International Kickboxer is the only Australian mag that I know of which is dedicated to Kickboxing and MT. It's all we've got at the moment and I think the team at Blitz are doing as much as possible to try and please as many of us as possible. You've all seen the debates we've had over this being better than that,

I had a surf around the Blitz site, in one of the sections it actually tells you the circulation figures and reader demographics. I was very surprised at these. You guys should check it out for interests sake. To me there seemed very little difference in sales between the Flagship mag (Blitz) and International Kickboxer. At first I thought to myself , damn, surely we're getting close enough to justify an equally glossy mag.
Until, I for the first time opened up the Blitz mag and checked out the advertising difference, and the difference is huge. This sport drastically needs to pick up sponsors or advertisers bad. I honestly don't understand why it's so difficult for such and exciting sport, but I do hope in changes soon.

So, I'm remaining loyal, because Kickboxing in Australia would be so so much poorer with without the Mag I think.

Like Ian, I too don't work for the Magazine. I'm certain, like myself, neither he nor the other photographers who are contributing to the magazine are doing it solely for the money. I'm pretty sure most of us do it for a mix of reasons, community, love of the sport, and a passion for sports photography.
