Hi guys,
So my next fight is against a much bigger guy who is from Australia, he's about 73kgs as opposed to my 62kgs. It's on Jan 6th so not alot of prep time.
I've had more fights then him & from watching his videos believe I am more technical but theres always the size factor.
Was just wondering what is best to do in terms of preperation and mentally how would you handle it?
Also advice from some1 who has been in the same situation would be extra-appreciated [wish i had thor's email].
Thanks again for any advice given.

Maybe message jwp and ask him. In his history of thailand there is mention and photos of him about his fight against hanarong. There was a huge size difference and he still won. I'm sure his advice would be good. Best of luck with your fight.

Teep, and stay mobile.

I fought this big Russian and my trainer said 'No problem, just block punch.' I did and he nearly took my head off!! I teeped and kept him away till he tired and dropped his hands and KKO. It was scary though.

Dude, might as well measure your peepee's to see if they are the same height too. It's not only the length that matters it's also the girth of the damned thing that counts.

Weight and size is a concerning factor, in this preposterous match up.

Daniel,

There are an old saying - "fighting above his weight". Many people made this mistake and this is why the saying is in common usage. Kind of like the ugly guy with the good looking girl, it just ain't natural. Think long and hard whether you should take this one.

IF you go ahead with the bout, mobility is the key and playing a stick and move game. He will outbrawl you with his weight advantage. He will probably try and cut off the ring, and get you on the ropes or in the corner, so try and hold the middle of the ring.

The front kick from Mat is a good recipe, you need to hold him back, and try and fight from outside the guard where you can. Close tools like the hook and uppercut are probably out, but the straight punches - the jab and cross - should hold you in good stead. I would suggest clinching/knees/elbow you would also be at a disadvantage here and stay out of this range. Leg kicks will also be effective if you can sling, then back away. Try and spar some bigger opponents between now and then to get you match fit for taking on a bigger opponent.

Let this be a lesson to you in the future, don't fight people bigger or uglier than yourself. If they are ugly, they fight like they have nothing to lose. I'd think hard about taking it. They have divisions for a reason. Go back to the promoter and say you will meet in a catchweight - hopefully with cutting weight he will lose some cardio/fitness. If he has got to run/skip for the next two weeks, he mightn't have power in his legs.

It's actually 6 days away steve haha....yeah I'll think about it. Though I think I'll take it...probably something to sleep on as every1 at the gym is really confident I'll win.

I fought Chean Distant who was 16kgs heavier than me, and we didn't know UNTIL we had already got in the ring, and he came out as they read his weight. I turned to my tr4ainer and said 'WTF!' And he said, well, do you wanna? I said, why not, we came all the way up here. But in the end, I got KTFO, and totally regret it, and since then only did one more big dude (the Russian), but I was wiser then.

I seriously don't think you should do it, but it's hard when you have the Thai peer-pressure 'No problem, you win 100%, him not fit.' LOL
