The 4 Man Muaythai Eliminator will be at 55kgs. So far we have Tom Murray, a young fella from Perth, and just confirming the other two, but looks sweet!
The 4 Man MMA Eliminator has one of our guys, two Melbourne boys, and one from a new gym in regional Vic.
Grasshopper will be taking on Christian Balzer for the WKA East Coast title in the decider as both boys have one win against the other.
Plus a MASSIVE under-card, as always. Already got 8 other matches lined up, so it looks like I may have to do another novice show in March to take up the over-flow of novice competitors.
Big thanks to all the support received thus far. Victorian Muaythai is going to be massive.

30-12-2009, 01:24 PM
Mat,
Going from strength to strength....credit to you...
Is the "young fella" from Perth the same one that was lined up earlier this year, if so, it'll be a CRACKING 4 man...
And Grasshopper v Christian, this time FTR ????
Viper

Mmmmm I hope so Bushi, I was really looking forward to that. Hopefully he has had a B'day since then.

31-12-2009, 09:00 AM
Should be there Shaz.....
Spano, we have had Prosecution shows, Brute Force & Im Ouk & his Kun Khmer shows, but we have a "new" MT Promoter popping up in 2010.... maybe 2....
Watch this space...
Sor.NakSooMuayThai
31-12-2009, 05:07 PM
It won't be that young fella, as he is still not 18, but they want Tom to go over there in March to fight him, so that will be great.
And thanks Spano, but yes, we have quite a few Muaythai promoters in Vic, with Scida and Vukavic putting on many Thai bouts. Ancient Battles, Prosecution and Brute Force all seem to have dropped off which is unfortunate for the growth of Muaythai. I have no plans to be a big promoter, I am just enjoying what I'm doing, which is encouraging the growth of Muaythai in regional Vic; oh, and making millions while I'm at it...
Had one of the 4 Muaythai Eliminator opponents scratch, but it will go ahead, and just trying to secure a WKA State Title fight which wil be very, very cool.....stay tuned.

nah bushi, he is modelled on my fight style ;)
Warrnambool has always been a bit of an enigma IMO. So isolated, but produces fantastic fighters like Walshy, Clayton, Skeeta and Sam. Whatever they are doing, they are doing it very well, or there is something in the water. Always glad to have the Warrnambool boys on the show.
Thanks Anita, when you are back on track I would love to have you back over.
I am a huge Sam Edney fan, every time Mat says he is putting on a show I always say that he has got to get Sam on. His work rate is huge, technique is sensational and he is a top guy.
I would like to see him mixing it up in QLD with some of the guys up there, he certainly has the ability.
Can't wait to see him in action again, I think this is where my $$ will be placed
whitetiger
05-01-2010, 10:40 AM
cant give too much away matt :) I think from the start having walshy as our trainer, then walshy, clayton and myself moving to qld to train and fight out of boonchu, with some blokes named JWP, CARNAGE, F-16, ADAM AGRESSOR, FLIP, just to name a few, could only benefit our skills. And thats prob why bushi thinks jwp and sams style is similar. It is great to have available contact with a great trainer like walshy at your fingertips.
Sor.NakSooMuayThai
05-01-2010, 10:56 AM
Yeah I used to really enjoy Walshy and you guys coming up and fighting on ythe old 'Fights Under Lights' Jason Hawker used to do up here.
Tom Murray is fighting Aaron Scrimgour from Thai Boxing Pit for the Amateur Australian Muaythai Title (Super Bantamweight). Two excellent, tought little buggers, that will put on a great show for everyone.

Just confirming ANOTHER WKA Aussie title, will let everyone know as soon as I get it in concrete.
And Kano, it will be a very close fight, Kevin is the more experienced of the two, so it will be battled down to the wire, with some exceptional technique. I will sit on the fence, not because of politics, but because both are excellent fighters, and both are good friends of mine...

07-01-2010, 09:34 PM

Thanks Quirky.
Actually, we only have 15 fighters from the regional area (Deniliquin, Shepparton, Tocumwal & Numurkah), and 21 fighters from Melbourne, W.A and N.S.W. People obviously come to watch the locals, but cheer just as hard for the people making the effort to travel all this way.

The Perth boys look tough and focused, their fights will be wars.
Venue looks awesome with heaps of teired seating, bar is fully stocked (ATM!!!)
SHEPPARTON IS REALLY BUZZING.
There are still general tickets available at the door.

holy crap! what a fantastic night and awesome crowd (had to be at least 1000 strong)
everybody got behind all the fighters and every fight was fought tooth and nails
just a couple of results I remember:
Tommy Murray won pts over Scrimmy for the WKA AUST TITLE... awesome fight and Scrimmy showed so much heart and balls for a fighter with only 6 fights, well done to both you lads
Sam unfortunately finished Rohulla in rd1
Phillip Lai and Aaron Cheeney fought to a draw... Aaron's walk forward style and quick combos really showing thru from rd3 onwards, but that right midkick of Phillip is amazing
Grasshopper vs Brad wasn't the prettiest fight, but it got the crowd on it's feet with both fighters giving their all from start to finish... can't remember the result
that's all I remember at the moment and I wasn't even drinking
just want to say THANKS to Mat Reid and everyone that something to do with this fantastic promotion in Shepparton last night... looking forward to the next one

Official crowd was closer to 2000. and BOY DID THEY GO OFF, it was the biggest thing in Shep since the last SPC sale....:D
Great night, action packed, but the only result that did confound me was The Vaginator v Aaron. This needs to be looked at, it was for an Aust Title, so not sure how you can / should arrive at a draw....
Nonetheless a great fight, Phil kicked the crap out of Cheney, but Cheney, as he is renowned, is as tough as they come, full credit to him. I remember seeign him fight Jared Grigor at 74, now he's at 67. well done to Aaron & Liam on getting down to what looks like a comfortable weight for you.
Main even was a war, Tommy was well ahead all night but as Dave said, Scrimmy would not go down, took heaps but gave it back... great to see 2 boys from WA on the card...
Mat Reid & KOFP are bringing Victorian Muay Thai right up there, and look out for this in a few weeks on Foxtel Aurora Channel 183, proudly bought to you by Paris Productions.
Oh and Spano, rematch is there anytime you want it.. but come prepared...:p
Thanks to Mat and the team at KOFP, Liam & myself had a great time again, it's only his 2nd show and he now wants to be a permanent fixture at KOFP moving forward.....
Shep ROCKS....

great weekend with a great result for us, sammy taking away the wka vic title. Congrats to tommy on the wka aust title, and well done to all the other fighters, winners and losers. Got some great photos for you matt, not sure whether every fight was done, there was about 800 taken and havent gone thru all of them, my eyes were too blurry yesterday.
What a weekend... Another fantastic promotion put on by Mat & KO Promotions. The crowd was huge and got behind all of the fights.
The guys from the Goulburn Valley did themselves proud with 4 wins and a draw out of 6 fights.
Alex Hutchins put together a great fight, and was extremely happy to come away with another win.
I didn't know how Tommy was going to go in his fight, the guys from WA are tough and with him already fighting Toby I thought they would have had a huge advantage. Tom did himself and the 20 odd gyms that he now trains with proud (maybe 20 is a huge exageration). Another title for the young kid. I wonder who will be next for him? It was good to meet the guys from WA and put some faces to members on the forum.
Sam Edney put in a huge effort to come away with the Vic title. Great guy and a huge representation from the White Tiger gym. Sam is also starting to ge a bit of a following from the Shepp fans as well. I was dissapointed that Rohulla didn't hang around in the ring after to see Sam get the belt. Not very sportsman like...
I was miffed at the decision on Phil & Aaron, I thought that Phil did enough to take the win, but I guess Aaron was on the front foot and kept coming forward and putting on some great combos. I can't wait for a rematch for the title!
Anyway back to work to recover a bit...
Great night of fights! I will do a quick run-down...
1) Braiden with 1 win under his belt already took on debut fighter Charles Vagg from Echuca. Good technical battle for newbies, Braiden taking the win. Always glad to have first timers on the show, and looking forward to more from them in the up-coming KO8 Amateru Padded show April 17th.
2) Ross Purcell, also with one win under his belt took on debut fighter John Offord from Albury in a great BJC match-up with Ross taking the win.
3) Alex Hutchins really stepped up against Wagga's Ash Fewson who had an impressive record of 3 wins and 1 loss, against Alex's 1 win, 1 draw and 3 losses. Alex wins with some great high kicks and good grapple. Ash nearly took his head off a couple of times though.
4) Karl Paredes beat Ben Watson via points, would have been much closer had Ben been 100% healthy as he had been quite crook. Karl, in the usual Sor.Jaiphet fashion, has great technique and nice timing.
5) Darryl Morris is an older fighter (in his 40's), but wanted badly to have a fight just once, which he did against Peter Shannon, who has already had one fight (loss). He fought well despite his age, but a couple of punches rattled him in the end of the first round, and in the second he was put down by another good shot. He did what many young guys half his age are afraid to do, got in there and put everything on the line.
6) Jimmy Wang and Ben Herezo was a contrast in styles. A more composed, relaxed (some might say lazy ;)) fighter in Wang, against the hard hitting, aggressive Herezo. Jimmy's kicks and knees edged the decision his way.
7) Drew 'Spartan' Quirk' had a great battle against Mike Kelley. Both boys had one win each, so as Perry says, 'the 0 has to go.' Drew had some great boxing and was catching Mike quite a few times with clean head shots. But Mike rallied back hard with some great knee work and took the decision.
8) Terry Pryde and Adam Davis both had a similar record and this was going to be a good match up, with Adam taking the points decision.
9) Anthony 'Snoop' Campbell was very strong in his stand-up game against Mick Schoell, badly cutting Mick's cheek. On the ground the roles were reversed, with Mick winning via choke submission.
10) Young Joe Hooke from Kimekai has great technique and ring smart, always listening and applying what his corner says. He beat the more experienced Drew via points.
11) Dave Lawton and Dnaiel Ellis drew in a great punch-on which got the crowd going.
12) Grasshopper's laste replacement Brad Russell came from Perth to shake things up. Grasshopper did very well to take the win, and is hungry for his next fight.
13) Sam Edney, WKA Victorian Champion after besting Rohulla Paykari in the first round with a great combo with Rohulla ending up on the ground. Sahme Rohulla left the ring before the decision, but apparently he didn't know what was going on after the KO. He is rallying back to fight Chris Horne for the Australian title in 2 weeks time.
14) Phil Lai and Aaron Cheny. Draw. Some people were left confused with the decision. I haven't seen the fight so I can't comment. But what I did see was some great combo exchanges from both boys, and Phil's right body kick reddening up Aaron's left side a treat. Cheney is doing fantastic at this lower weight, much faster, and still as tough.
15) Tom Murray defeated the tough little bugger Aaron Scrimgeour in a 5 round Muaythai war. These boys were throwing every Muaythai strike, and some great little tricks in the grapple. Great win by Tommy, he is going to go far this lad, with the right guidance. He is now in Melbourne full-time and has been training out of Invictus Gym, Sor.Jaiphet and Hanger 4. Big thanks to Dave for looking after him and helping him get prepared. Tommy is going up for a shot at the heavier WMC Vic belt in a month on Carl Drapper's show, so stay tuned.
Huge thanks to all the gyms that supported the show, massive thanks to everyone that helped me, Kano, Callum, Kwanta, Geng, Shazza, Jordan, Alodia, Shell, the Board, the officials, FunDao, Boy, Junior, Arnon, all my students that stayed and helped pack up as well as help set up, Kristen, Lou, and anyone who I have forgotten. Huge thanks to the sponsors, and can't wait to see this on Aurora, got some great fights lined up. We aren't perfect, but doing our best to put on great shows and grow the sport, and from the bottom of my heart I appreciate the support.
See you all at KO8, April 17th Numurkah Town Hall, Amateur Padded Muaythai and MMA.
P.S Promoters, don't buy raffle prizes thinking you will be able to make enough off the top after you take out what you paid. Didn't work, great prizes though hahaha. I am now more broke than 2 months ago, but like my old trainer Jason Hawker used to say, "if you don;t want to make money in life, do martial arts for a living."

Firstly like thank Matt for bringing us over and looking after us. Had a blast in Melbourne and look forward to going back again soon. Brett and Tom would be a good fight I think it will be on the next Domination later in the year as it has been in the works for a while. Also it was good to get back in the ring after a long lay off and would like to give Tom a rematch in the future.
