I was just looking at an MMA event in Hong Kong in January and saw hes fighting a Thai Arthit Hanchana. Was wondering what his background is, because this Arthit had really good kicks, knees and elbows when i saw him fight recently.

he beat a guy who trains in my gym in hobart that I chat to occasionally jade ?$! in Sydney a couple of months ago, was talking to his trainer last week. Matt caught him with a big right hand in the 1st breaking his nose won on dec. i think.

Trainer said Matt is very experienced good wrestler and elusive jump in and out striking ' machida style' in his words.

Cheers, Tim

He's about the #7 ranked Welterweight MMA fighter in OZ (Has about 12 pro MMA fights).

If you know him, I just wanted to tell him to be prepared for this Thai, he has wicked high and mid kicks and works really well at long range. In close he used tidy elbows too. In his fight there was no real grappling as he didnt let the guy get near him, so I dont know how his ground game is. He was a smart ass too, showboating once he was dominating the chinese fighter (saw him fight in macau earlier this year).

Thansk for advice. Have let Matt know about this thread.

The Legend FC card is a great card for a debut promotion. Adrian Pang is featuring in the main event against a good South Korean opponent. Dylan Andrews and Michael Mortimer also on the card.

Matt has primarily a BJJ background, but he is a very well rounded fighter with a fair bit of experience. With Adrian, Mick and Matt all from IMA at the same event I think he should be well prepared for Hong Kong.

Just got back from the MMA show in Hong Kong.
Results for the Aussie guys and kiwi:
Michael Mortimer lost by Triangle to Korean Jo Nam Jin (I was too late to watch this one)
Matt Cain won via heel hook in round 1 over Arthit Hanchana (completely stifled Hanchanas excellent kicking ability for a mid round takedown and submission)
Kiwi Dylan Andrews and Mongolian Dorjderem fight was a no contest after Dylan was was KOed cold in the first 30 seconds by possible punches to the back of the head (it was very fast and punches possibly to the side or back of the head area)
Adrian Pang drew with Korean Nam Yui Chul. The fight was a battle, Adrian landing good single punches and a few kicks, and the Korean working for some takedowns and good striking. The result was controversial with most believing that the Korean won. Even one judge stood up and protested as they read his score as a draw. That withstanding, Adrian showed he is a warrior, bleeding hard from the face he fought hard until the final bell, the 3rd was possibly his best round.
Good work Aussies and Kiwi!

Another Aussie fighter (from Victoria) was on that card, too. Kenny Yeung - he beat Amartuvshin via TKO.

Sorry, the fight card said he is from Hong Kong. Yes he won after brutalising the guys lead leg with about 100 inside kicks and some head punches too. The guys corner threw the towel in.

Kenny is orginally from Hong Kong but trains at team nemesis mma in melbourne. His opponent was a very aggressive mongolian grappler.
The organisation of the show was really professional and definitely way beyond anything we have seen before.
