They said last week they hope to come to Australia at least once a year from now on.
Jarrah, im doubtful of that. I dont think they will get the coin they are used to in ticket sales here, to keep coming back. This show will test the water, then maybe one more show just to be sure.
They sold around 20,000 tickets in 2 hours Russ, 2nd fastest sell out behind Canada. UFC hadnt spent a cent on advertising and they sold out before announcing any fights, I think they are very happy with Australia so far.
I think its great there coming to town, will be an amazing event I am sure with all the razzle dazzle.
love how jwp doesn't hate on MMA.
yeah what he said.
second fastest selling card outside USA.
no advertising in AUSTRALIA was done apart form maybe 1HD ads and stuff.
Dana was blown away with how fast the tickets were sold. he was meant to come down to Australia do some conferences and also promote the show which he didn't need to do.
no fight was even confirmed at all on the card yet us aussies went and bought tickets anyway.
going from sexyama vs wandy as the main card to nog <3 vs cain is a great main event.
but i do agree with russ, maybe the tickets prices seem to be cheaper then other countries.
i remember some seats going for a few thousand when looking at US based events.

Mate, I talked to them last week and they were estatic about the ticket sales, they couldn't believe it, they spent absolutely nothing on promotion and it looks like it will be the most profitable sporting event in Acer Arena history.
This is a direct quote from Marshall Zelaznik, the UFC Managing Director of International Development —
"When we start these events, we set out to plan one event. Obviously, we’ll make a strong evaluation based on this early success and will probably look at coming back fairly quickly. We are doing so many events now in so many different places, trying to spread the UFC, that I can easily see us coming back here at least once a year after this.”
Either way, they don't make their money in ticket sales, they have plenty of show on at the Palms in Vegas, which holds like 7000 max.
UFC is here to stay baby.
usually dana ends up giving free tickets away to make sure the arenas full.
i dunno what you would call them people, who report things about the events how much they made at gate, ticket sales, fighters pay outs, bonuses, adverts, etc.
but usually alot of the US events don't sell out as they have so many events in las vegas a year compared to going to other countries only having 1-2 events there a year and everyone wanting to go.
i swear to god.... im going to try and get in that hot seat next arianny.....some how some way im getting in that chair for 1 round!
They sold around 20,000 tickets in 2 hours Russ, 2nd fastest sell out behind the 2007 "Rumble @ Melbas" danceoff.
wow, thats impressive.

Be nice if we could sell out our Muay Thai shows like that, then we could attract some big names down under!!!!

evolution should promote muay thai on the ufc show by putting ads there. that would get a large crwod into muay thai

They sold around 20,000 tickets in 2 hours Russ, 2nd fastest sell out behind Canada.
They sold 16,500 (about 1000 more than the Green/RJJ fight) tickets, but at an average price of less than half the cost of tickets to the big boxing events here in Oz (Green/RJJ & Green/Mundane).
it looks like it will be the most profitable sporting event in Acer Arena history.
Not even close. The big events at Acer sell out (21,000) and tickets to those events / concerts / promotions go for double to quadruple the average cost of UFC Australia tickets.

I said sporting and I didn't just say ticket sales.
