Just read in today's AGE that Bernard Hopkins is now VERY interested in coming down under to fight Danny as he is being offered more $ to make a trip down under than he is being offered to fight Chad Dawson in back in the states and says he will go where the money & respect are....it certainly looks like Green will have the bargaining power to bring another boxing legend to Australia, this is huge for the Green camp!
Well done if they can make it happen.

and meanwhile Australia's premier boxer, 'Aussie' Vic Darchinyan fights Tomas Rojas in the US. Seems all the media hype and fanfare surrounding Green vs Jones has distracted attention away from Vic.

I respect B-Hop's achievements, but he needs a thorough ass whooping. I wish Danny KOs him, out cold, in the first round. Never say never.

Vic fought yesterday & after the fight, Green and B-Hop did an interview in the crowd, confirming the bout was aiming to happen sometime in early 2010.
They didn't exactly take the spotlight from Darchinyan.

yeah well Vic holds WBC and WBA belts, and had his first loss stepping up in weight for an IBF title (which he will likely avenge), yet Australia is mesmerized by a bout by a couple old guys for an obscure IBO title.
Perhaps Vic needs to learn to dance on channel 7.

Australia audience watches Mundine and he fights any bum.
More about marketing than the product.
The average Australian doesn't even know who Vic is. They don't know what K1 or Muay Thai is either.
9/10 know who Danny Green and Mundine are though.
You have to go on reality tv or play football to go a profile in Australia which says a lot about the Australia media and know poor the mainstream sports coverage is.
You have to watch fox, one hd or sbs to get coverage of world sports.

what about Mike Katsidis. he's a bigger name than Vic, Danny, and Mundine in the US but no one knows him here

Another crap boxing event coming up.
Then don't watch it. VIc Darchynian totally deserves more publicity. Anyone who's seen him fight would agree. That guy is amazing. But its boxing so it must be crap.(yeah right).

I agree with Issanwarrior, Danny should fight someone a bit younger maybe try and unify the belts. How does the IBO belt in that weight class rank, is the WBC AND WBO ranked higher. Don`t like the idea of Danny fighting old has beens Hopkins is now 44 and not the same fighter he was. I do think Danny is a good fighter and would like to see him fight someone ranked a bit higher.

Hopkins may be a little boring to watch but he is ranked 4 on the ring magazine pound for pound list and is the number 2 light heavyweight behind Chad Dawson. So in regards to fighting someone ranked higher, the only other alternatives are Chad Dawson and Tomasz Adamek and Danny wont make anywhere near as much money for those fights.

Tomasz Adamek is the current Ring magazine undisputed cruiserweight champion, but he has made the move to heavyweight after demolishing Andrew Golota in Poland's alleged fight of the century, he won't be coming back down to 200lb. Danny said Chad Dawson wasn't a big enough name, but he is the recognised light-heavyweight kingpin, so I guess B-Hop is the only logical choice left. If Danny beats B-Hop, I wouldn't be surprised to see him go after former Roy Jones conquerer Antonio Tarver, and maybe even Glenn Johnson, but I think a fight at cruiserweight against James Toney would be money.

Katsidis is the new Gatto in the US and is well known, not as much as Vic though. Both are not well known in Australia , I dont know why but it must be nice to be able to walk down the street without getting hassled.
Watch Zappavigna's profile take off soon in the US. he will be next , now that boy is good !

In regard to interest, show, entertainment, australian boxing publicity and $$$ this would be the Green camp's dream bout, there is no doubt about that !
Good luck to them if they can pull it all together.

A fight with James Toney will never happen. For about a million and one reasons...
B-Hop is the fight they are going after and hopefully the semi main is lil Vic D if they can get an opponent to come to Australia.

He will make money from it anyway. Doesnt really matter. If he loses, he will still be a winner!

Better make that a million and two reasons...
http://www.fighthype.com/pages/content6501.html
I'd watch James Toney against Kimbo Slice or Chuck Liddell because they'd more than likely stand with him, but Randy Couture would get him up against the cage, take him down and pound on him until the ref stops it, or it's 'Lights Out' for James Toney.
B-Hop is the fight they are going after and hopefully the semi main is lil Vic D if they can get an opponent to come to Australia.
B-Hop is the fight I would love to see Danny take above any other, mainly for all the trash B-Hop was talking on the 'Nothing Else Matters' doco. Danny said he's not welcome in Australia with those types of comments, but I'm sure he'd make an exception if it means doing to B-Hop what he did to Roy Jones Jr.
A co-main event of Vic Darchynian vs Nonito Donaire would be amazing, and they could go with a Payback theme for the PPV. I know it would never happen though as both match ups are worthy of being the lone main events on a given PPV, and there is more money to be made by keeping both events separate, but it would be great value for money for the fans.

Yep exactly one of my million reasons as to why the Toney fight wont happen. And lets just say he hasn't been the full quid lately...
Danny definately wants B-Hop and I think both know it is the best for both of them. The Green camps has made an offer and hopefully it is accepted. B-Hop wont get his RJJ fight but if he can beat Green he will be able to talk crap about how he would have killed RJJ. Although I think Green is going to take down B-Hop anyway.
As for Vic being on the same card, he could definately earn more money fighting elsewhere as the main event and there is also the issue of getting his opponents to come to Oz. He has also been offered a big payday to fight in Moscow. But given the relationship between Danny and Vic and the Green camps desire to put on an even bigger show than the last. They just might get it done. I hope they do.
