Ment to be on Main event ?

What i dont get is dosent Shaggy hold the only world title in A1 one right now that was won under full thai rules but Ian fight will be under kickboxing rules ?
or is there a new weight class ?

ians nose was not "modified" daz, he fractured his eye socket, broke his nose, and cracked his skull, which forced him from fighting his boxing come back fight.
im not sure at what extent these injuries where at.

ian did pull out from the 8 man, but is just keen to punch on again and he put his name back in the mix to fight on the show.

word on the street is that the venue is tables only, and they have been totally sold out, and its on main event

Not that Shaggy didn't deserve to fight for a title, but titles are only credible when they are consistantly fought for and against ranked fighters.

ie, WMC & Boom Boom, defended 5 times straight as an example, now that is a credible sanctioning body and title worth holding.

To many sanctioning bodies IMHO, but that's the fight game...

Actually I'm surprised they didn't try and get Shaggy on this card (or did they), would have been good to see him back in the ring (not that I'm going to this show).

Having said all that, the event is sold out, so credit to Tarik for that...

That's a fair point....Kids can do very surprising amounts of damage!! my cousins partner was bull rider for many years and kept a full smile of teeth, yet at their child's first birthday a headbutt to the face delivered a neat blow and out popped the entire top front row of teeth!!

i feel the difference is these arent very active fighters who are fighting under various sanctioning bodies against quality opponents that get thrown a fight that they would take regardless of a title.. these are hand picked fights against people nobody knows more often than not just for the sake of being a world champ.. shortcuts like this are pushing the sport backwards.. there is more credibility in a wmc aussie title pro or am!

Regardless of it been A1 rules which is similar to K1 rules, there are people out there that still support kickboxing. I know of a few people going to tune in and watch it for $29.95. I enjoy all the shows Joe Naders, Josh & Nuggets & Rob Fogartys, Explosions, Ian Bronsons & Mark Pease, Jabout shows and now we are going to have Immortality in NSW run by Stuart Mckinnon & Reindhard Badato should be all good for the sport.

the rules don't bother me lucy, it just looks like a really crap show going by his more recent events here in oz, this one will have terrible novices and horrible mismatches. not worth paying for IMO. especiallly when we get Evo, Detonation, War on the Shore, Explosion and more on Fox.

I know of a few people going to tune in and watch it for $29.95.

I am sure there will be which is good I suppose, at least the general public won't be watching it hopefully.

you can't be comparing the sleezy and dodgy Solak shows with those guys Lucy??? I am guessing you have some sort of investment in his show? Our sport is better off without him. It has moved on to a whole new level of profesionalism (for the most part) and he is just bad news IMO.

No I don't have and never had any investments with Tariks shows. Just in the past I managed fighters, he took them places K1 GP 2001 & Turkey. exposure nationwide & internationally. I don't manage any boys anymore.(Due to health reasons).
Just wanted to ask what you meant by dodgy,...because Tarik always paid my fighters never cheated them with dollars...Production wise he is definetly the BEST...If you had seen his shows overseas spectacular..(without a doubt)
Shows have improved over the years..lets hope Tariks Main event show will be up there as well, whole different story when live...
Just have to wait and see...
I have spoken to a couple of the fighters fighting on his show and they are pumped they can't wait..

I had mixed feelings Tarik coming back to promote, because things have changed since he has been out of the country.....(Fox shows have been excellent..love the last CFC MMA show &Joe Naders show, Josh & Nuggets Show in Melbourne Slowinsky Vs Edwards)
He needed to do something different,promoting on MAIN EVENT SOLDOUT A MONTH AGO...
Goodluck for the fights I hope they are good.... The guys that are fighting are all experienced fighters they have had over 10fights (lol's)....

I have to agree with Aunty...from the several fighters I know well who have appeared regularly with Tarik, he pays them a premium, pays them using cash:eek:;) and on time, and apart from being an occasional bully, runs a pretty tight ship (from a fighter's perspective).
One can't help but hold some appreciation for a promoter who wears matching pin-striped suit, tie and shoes.

I only fought on Tariks Show just the once.

I trained at Ronald McDonalds in Cairns to gain 5kg of solid junked up mass to meet Stanley Nandex @ 78kg K-1 Rules.

At the weigh in Stanley weighed nearly 6kg overweight. I was a bit pissed 'cos he was saying he'd been trying to lose weight for those last three weeks.

Tarik pulled him aside and gave him a good talking to. The 'F' word was slinging amongst it all as well.

Tarik came back and apologised asking what I wanted. Stanley losing 6kgs would be nice but...we spoke and I was paid a bonus on top off my fighters purse.

From that experience me thinks Tarik is rather grand.

On the night of the fight, the rules were changed from K-1 to Kickboxing...fuçking great, and I also noticed Mr Solaks' hair-do was permed the yesterday to straightened that evening. "What The...!"

P.S.

Mr Solaks' P.A. at the time was smoking hot. Sitting next to her. I put the question on asking if she was his girlfriend. Immediately with a disgusted look, she said,"No, I'm his Personal Assistant!" I looked at Bomber like watevaaa...he then elbowed me in the ribs laughing. That was my cue. I went in for the jugular but the lil' vixen escaped from the clutches of my fornicated death grip!

She got a part acting in Home and Away...mmm wonder if she will be his PA for this show...lol's.Might be worth watching his show if she is the MC again.(for you guys who liked her.)

Everyone has an opinion - mine is Tarik was able to put on bigger shows that pulled the crowds in, and did it well. Yep he was a showpony, but I don't think a shrinking violet would make it as an upper level promoter. I think the Tarik argument in this thread ran away from the event on which the thread was started. Tarik has introduced plenty of good fighters to the business. Some of them, like Gurkan, would rile the crowd - but doesn't that add to the sport having charactors? If Gurkan went into the ring and acted/spoke like Gomer Pyle or Ned Flanders, I don't think there would have been much of a crowd.

Another promoter from the past who would put on BIG shows was Chris Chronis.

Back on topic - who are the fighters, what is the weight, and what are the rules (KB, Mod Thai or K1).
